Klein Karoo
Getting to Joubert-Tradauw on the R62 is an easy and scenic
three-hour drive from Cape Town 230 Km, passing through Montagu or, if coming from the Garden Route (N2), via the magni!cent Tradouw Pass from Swellendam and the fertile Tradouw Valley, or from Oudtshoorn (R62) over the plateau of the Klein Karoo.
These routes all meet in the small town Barrydale, a fragment of paradise on earth, nestling in the folds of the majestic Langeberg Mountains.
The Tradouw Valley holds a special secret: a fresh South-Easter rolls into the slumbering valley every evening, cooling the vineyards. This results in the slow ripening of the vineyards, which are picked as late as April. The challenging weather elements include hail, frost and fluctuations between day and night temperatures.
Beautifully complex, medium-bodied yet classic.
Fine aromas of ripe citrus with a hint of honey, earthy flavours and a long delicious finish.
